Who We Are

The Happy Dragon Thrift Shop raises money for Uplift Family Services, a statewide nonprofit that helps children and families.

What We Do

The shop accepts donations which the backroom crew sorts, prices, and puts out for sale. Retail works in 3-person teams in 3 1/2 hour shifts.

Bryan's Story

Through Bryan’s school, his mother found out about Uplift Family Services and its Outpatient Program.

Cody's Story

Year after year they sought advice from one doctor after another, even some neurologists. Eventually, each doctor said they had done all they could.

Dylan's Story

Dylan was in danger of being sent to a group home, so the Department of Social Services (DSS) referred him to the Family Finding program at Uplift Family Services in hopes of finding him a permanent home with a family.

Jocelyn's Story

When Jocelyn was six, she and her older sister were removed from home because of abuse and severe neglect. A drug-addicted mother and a drug-dealing pimp father were what they knew as family.

Jose's Story

The world had always been a scary place for Jose. Leaving home, attending school and other normal daily activities resulted in high anxiety, insomnia and irritable behavior.

Maricel's Story

At age 14, Maricel has a bright and promising future that includes college, a career as a teacher, and a loving, supportive relationship with her dad and other family members.

Megan's Story

By the time Megan entered high school, she was suffering with major depression, OCD and debilitating anxiety, issues that were probably genetically inherited.

Samantha's Story

After suffering neglect from her drug-addicted mom and abuse by her stepfather, Samantha entered foster care at age six. She bounced around eight foster homes before she landed at an Uplift Family Services’ foster home.

Sienna's Story

Although six-year-old Sienna had some verbal skills, which is not true for all children on the Autism Spectrum, her ability to express herself was limited and her social skills were poor.

Victor's Story

Victor overcame some of the most traumatic events imaginable to be where he is today. He and his family are a testament to resilience and perseverance.
